Staying Further Out

You don't have to stay within walking distance. Central is Sydney's main transport hub, and the metro line that opened in 2024, together with the light rail, means you can stay much further out and still reach the venue in 15 minutes or so. This widens your choice of hotels and prices considerably.

  • CBD core, Barangaroo and Martin Place: a few minutes by metro, train or light rail
  • North Sydney, Crows Nest and Chatswood: the metro runs under the harbour to Central, about 10 minutes from North Sydney and 15 from Chatswood
  • Surry Hills and Redfern: walk, or one train stop
  • Inner West (Newtown, Marrickville, Sydenham): a short train ride, or the metro from Sydenham to Central in about 6 minutes
  • Pyrmont, Darling Harbour and Glebe: the L1 light rail runs direct to Central
  • Randwick and Kensington: the L2 and L3 light rail lines run direct to Central

Trains and the metro run every few minutes at peak times. Check that your hotel is near a station or light rail stop.
